Slightly related… I can confirm that if you book a flight and lodge the upgrade request before it expires, then subsequently cancel flight for full refund – the voucher does not come back to you 🙂

Airnz give you parking passes for GE every year too. So definitely do-able! I still prefer the “waive credit card fees” option that bnz has (had?) for spending over the threshold. Something everyone can get value from
Parking passes would be better for sure… but the airline obviously wins with the current arrangement and will be unlikely to encourage a change…
Kiwibank gives me loads of free lounge vouchers that basically go to waste (cause gold)…. i liked the BNZ card that waived fees over a certain spend instead.
I think their included travel insurance is probably better than the rest.
Biggest benefit with their card is that it has the best status point earn, so you can get to gold faster 👍
My akl-lax refund came through in days, included the refund for c/card fees too. Unfortunately, my (now expired) recognition upgrade did not return to me 😢
If they have it on NZ8 tonight, i’ll pass. Almost the last place i can stay disconnected for an extended period and prefer it that way 😁
As i mentioned elsewhere though, $40 is not much really in relation to the cost of the flights ($400 to $5000), and is probably expensable for business travellers.
didn’t get the email for some reason. Tripit has me at a modest 81,296km but not all of my domestic flights went into tripit.
I just bought local SIM in each of vietnam and cambodia at airport. Both had good cheap options with loads of data.
Sounds like a great reason to call a travel agent… should be easy for them. they dont usually charge fees do they?
For work i often look up fares/routing on airnz then ask agent to book with correct US star alliance airlines for second leg as airnz site mostly chooses alaskan or virgin nowdays 😖
So are they keeping the threshold gifts but ditching just the xmas gifts?
I would likely pick RU/parking/banked years or other air/airpoints related options. I guess some probably always book business travel so may not need those sort of reward optionz… and might prefer other gifts.
