Oh the booking is there alright. There’s just no link to a boarding pass or seat allocated. The app just says check in at the airport.

I think it’s either because the flight is overbooked and they don’t want to allocate seats until they see who turns up, or else it’s because we book through Tandem whose systems seem to be only loosely connected to the rest of Air NZ

I used it as part of a trial in November last year on a trip to the UK. I was very impressed with the performance, especially flying at 35,000 feet over the middle of the ocean! I imagine the $40 is per sector? So flying to the UK it would actually be $80 to stay connected – that seems too high to me.

At the time I seem to remember it was tied to the roadworks related to the rail loop – they couldn’t manage the big bus through that.

But it certainly stopped my patronage dead. It’s a shame, the service was great up til then.

I used to use the bus, but not since they stopped going down Queen St. Uber is so easy and cheap.

The change of seat has really disappointed me. The Spaceseat felt special and looked great. The new Zodiac seat is just another airline seat, and going to 2-4-2 is disappointing too.

Yeah, I’m glad too, from Christchurch most of the return flights I had to take from Sydney or Melbourne were on Virgin. The staff seemed friendly enough, but their planes and service were so inferior. And not being able to seat select drove me nuts.
