This is actually a pretty good review of the LCC airlines in our region. I’m not surprised Air Asia comes out on top given they offer an angle flat bed and should probably even be considered in preference to Air NZ’s PE product to Asia given the space and likely cheaper pricing. If I didn’t have my own personal bias against Air Asia I’d certainly be flying them.
Interesting to see JQ starclass has 48cm width vs Scootbiz 56cm. I’d definitely take a JQ starclass over QF 737 economy and probably their A330 too. These are more PE type products or comparable to regional business class than true business class long haul. You need to position to Australia to fly these products though.
Good to keep in mind the LCC options.
I see they missed a section on the biggest LCC in the region – Air NZ π
The writer does seem a little confused though. What AirAsia offers is a “angled lie flat”, not a “lie flat” bed.

Nah they’re just competing against both LCC and Full service within the same aircraft – I call that smart!
Melbourne’s really well placed for trying all of those carriers.
