Qantas are emailing the 12 days of xmas fares. Look really awesome.
eg Santiago for $1000 return in economy and Singapore for $700 return ex NZ.
I think you only have 2 days to book them. There’s also a draw to win lots of Qantas points so sign up for that…[Read more]
I like apps, easy for making bookings while on the go so scope accommodation out and download the applicable apps. You could look at making some bookings and checking their cancellation policies. Never had any issues cancelling with hotels.com and even though pricing may be a little bit more than direct, need to remember for the ease of cancelling…[Read more]
No current funky bookings but will update when I do. Will need to ask a few more questions prior to booking as I dislike surprises, especially when it comes to crediting flights or excess bag fees.
Yeah I had read about splitting but it sounded complicated and provided no benefit for me so never did it. I found it a bit nerve racking…[Read more]
Now increased to 50% but ends today Dec 5 ex-Oz. Great deal but can’t make a decision or commit today 🙁
So playing around with the Air NZ website I noticed that flights NZ to QLD in particular Bundaberg and Gladstone, that the domestic Oz legs are now operated by Qantas despite Alliance (VA’s partner on these routes) fly to these destinations. Rockhampton it’s Air NZ, then Alliance although the Air NZ site says VA. VA’s site says its Alliance and…[Read more]
No. I suspect a bunch of buyers like myself buy infrequently online and just purchase the item if available. I don’t head back to the site later to see if I got duped. I’m generally buying on behalf of someone else so it’s their money.
We rented earlier in the year. +1 made the booking through some Ezi car hire? No hassles. I think your biggest protection against anything fraudulent is actually your phone. I video the entire car then turn it on showing the mileage as well which should be the same as what’s in their documentation. Also get a brief view of the weather and…[Read more]
Ha! I’ve heard of the sleeping pill trick before but never used it, not sure why.
So I guess I’ve had some fun noseying around at accommodation in HKG and getting to know the names of a few areas. It looks like Novotel is probably what I would book with your criteria. That 20m2 criteria cuts a number of properties out, but Novotel is within…[Read more]

So I had a think about it and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen other credit cards say you only need a certain portion of the trip booked on the card so decided to fill out the delayed luggage paperwork also. After all it really is the initial event that leads to the subsequent disruption and it shouldn’t matter which card I paid for it with. And I have…[Read more]
Bit late but …. any early risers?
Sun Nov 26 / AKL international / Qantas ~ 0545 entry.
Also Qantas BNE domestic ~ 0800 entry – doubt I’ll get there any sooner.
p.s. don’t forget dress requirements for the domestic QF lounge https://www.qantas.com/travel/airlines/qantas-club-dress-guidelines/global/en
I suspect I’m one of very few that…[Read more]

It’s normally $50. Need to earn a qantas point every 18 months which can be from Qantas, one world or partner airlines, car hires etc. I use the Qantas cash card as it’s easier to use than the Air NZ one smart card and doesn’t have some of…[Read more]

Having to buy clothes – landed and drove straight down the line.
Turns out I used my regular personal credit card to purchase clothing so I’m a bit screwed there. Warehouse was the only thing open at the time so spent ~ $50. Have the receipt. Gets confusing when you’re coming back from work travel for personal reasons. I’m very automated…[Read more]
I have to admit I use the skybus as it’s so frequent and direct into town (and there was a VA deal previously), the part I hate is waiting for the onward hotel bus if you’re not within walking distance from there.
Taxi’s to town were $$$
I’m debating using Uber next time to the hotel and back to the station as I get a little impatient and I also…[Read more]
Saw the fire incident a while ago but just noted this on traveltalk now.
I was told they have a boat arriving with new bits and bobs in December. Apparently bluesky is run from Samoa despite a local wanting the contract! In the interim you can use their hotspots which – well, aren’t created equal and there are definitely dead zones. I think 1.5GB…[Read more]
Hope you’re good at sleeping on planes! I get really jealous when the +1 knocks out. (I also get really ignored! :))
I had a wee look through a few sites for accommodation in Hong Kong and I think you’re going to be fine choosing accommodation. I’ve never been but would angle for Kowloon and Hong Kong Island I guess.
So I don’t give you…[Read more]
I really can’t remember how I ended up at this website! But, looks like they currently have some deals on.
Surprisingly they’re flying direct AKL-Manilla from Dec 6th. Thought Air NZ was eyeballing that route. I have to admit some of the beaches do look nice in the Phillipines.
