Air New Zealand has announced a 5% increase in the price of domestic airfares for bookings from Thursday 17th May 2018.

The increase follows on from a price increases earlier in 2018 where the cost of a fare with baggage increased by $5 on main trunk routes. This increase was rolled out across the whole domestic network in April.

Air New Zealand warned of price increases earlier in the year as the price of jet fuel continued to soar on the back of global oil prices. The price of jet fuel currently sits around 50% higher than a year ago, however this increase has not been felt in full by the airline due to fuel hedging.
