The Warehouse Group have decided to end their franchise agreement for Diners Club in New Zealand from the 31st December 2018. This means that Diners Club cards will no longer be available in New Zealand from the end of 2018, and all existing New Zealand issued cards will not be valid after this date.

Foreign Diners Club cardholders will still be able to use their cards in New Zealand and nothing will change for retailers who currently accept Diners Club cards.

The Warehouse Group have held the Diners Club franchise in New Zealand since 2014 after purchasing the local Diners Club assets for $3 million. Restructuring within their financial services group has seen the decision to dump the Diners Club brand.

Diners Club was popular with savvy travelers due to the lounge access privileges - it offered access to over 800 airport lounges around the world and great travel benefits staying at hotel properties that were part of its Signature Travel Network partnership all as part of the NZ$68 yearly card fee. Those lucky enough to sign up for one of the NZ Golf branded Diners Club cards found their yearly fee waived entirely while still reaping the same benefits.
