Yup! Helicopter tour out of Hilo over the active volcanic area is amazing, as is stargazing up Mauna Kea. We swam with Manta Rays after dark (might be a bit much for kids tho) and went horse riding in the Waipio valley which was cool. Akaka falls is good if you have time.
We stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Villiage which was awesome – went swimming with Turtles at the beach next door
