I was chatting with my cousin’s husband who does a lot of travel for work and he recommended snap car rentals for Auckland airport, city centre and Christchurch – although did mention you need a bit of time to be picked up and just sorting the car seems to take longer than your average car rental place.
Sometimes $25 a day, I played with some dates and had $30 or so a day. Some dates wanted more than 1 day rental and close dates were difficult to book at last minute but something I’ll keep in mind.
On a side note I tried Ace rentals recently as they were cheapest at last minute and it was ok but $2,000 authorization or hold on my cc. Never had it be that steep! I wouldn’t have an issue with it if the money went straight back into my account when I returned the car and they signed off on it. If anything dodgy comes through I’ll never use them again.
